I am an international and in my school, we decide which college we are applying ED to and make sure that no one is applying to the same place. Thats fine withme.
And so I tell everyone about my ED college and its fine with everyone and I apply there! And thenext day this other guy comes and says he did the same.
Now what happens is when two people from the same country apply to the same place..only one gets accepted bcoz of the regional quota!
Now, sure he has every right to chose his college, but the least he can do is not stab me in the back at the last moment!!!!

Whats more, the same guy turns out to be a super backstabber. He will come to you and try to learn everything about how you are applyng and stuff and not reveal what he is doing...I just hate these guys...they're sick!!
Does anyone else have his experience to share as well?
Cheez.......this is turning out to be a blog more than a discussion thread!!LoL

What you are telling us makes no sense. If the school requires that only 1 student apply ED and you were the one then how did this "backstabber" get his records sent, counselor report sent, recs etc. Something is not adding up here. I have not heard of any "quota" from a specific country.....at any school.

what i am saying is not about the ED.this is about people who try to get ahead of you by taking unfair advantage in the application process, like giving you false information. The try to look at your application, essays etc. to make sure that their application is better and when we try to see their's , they treat us like strangers!!!
Sorry my last post wasn't clear!!.........I just want you all to share any experiences you had with people (whom you wish died a long time ago) who always try to take unfair advantage at the admissins prrocess!!!

This may be more of an issue with intl students applying from the same school, but an applicant is not really competing with the people in their immediate vicinity. They are competing with the thousands of people that they don't even know. There is a myth that a college will only take a single student from any given high school. There is another myth that colleges will take an unlimited number of students from a high school no matter how many apply. Both are myths.

If a person is trying to be competitive with friends, it not only shows a lack of character but also a certain ignorance.

wow ntek its none of your business where other people from your school apply- there is no quota that only 1 will be accepted, im sick of you international kids and your lame cutthroat attitudes, its pathetic

if someone from my school tells me that there angry that i applied to a school that they wanted to go , id punch them in the face

I agree that it's a stupid attitude but that's a pretty big generalization don't you think? I'm American, sure, but I applied from Switzerland. I have to say that my school (an international school) has a more uncompetitive environment than any I've heard about in the states. A lot of people applied to the same schools, and discussed them. I think its pretty inflammatory to say that, "im sick of you international kids and your lame cutthroat attitudes."

I don't know about you but I could have sworn that I saw one or two competitive American applicants.

True, but even the smartest in my school only casually discuss where there applying, and i go to a competitive school

people do not bargain with one another and say OK ILL APPLY TO HARVARD, YOU CAN HAVE YALE- we all do whatever we want and then tell each or choose not too

Neither do we. People got into Columbia, Dartmouth, and Georgetown. None of them were competitive. We did casually discuss where we were applying.

Just say no. Tell the person bugging you, who is trying to get information, sorry, if I talk about it I get stressed, of lie to them. Why not? Why do you have such a strange agreement anyway, and are you sure that the school has a "quota" - or is it a USA quota- so many students from Country X and come and study in America this year? Or is it by school?

You can only be taken advantage of in this process if you allow them to. If they lie to you, well, lie back. Whatever. Sharing all that information seems pointless. It is not in your power who gets into what schools, in the colleges. So you need to worry about yourself. Don't go out of yourway to give bad information, like deadlines, just say, gee I am not sure, why don't you look it up>

And why show anyone anything? That is just silly. If you want to sure, but why let them bully you into sharing.

If you do get into a good school, don't let people try and copy your work or cheat off of you.

Maybe the people copies your ideas....and it hurt you
