<p>I need help finding some mid-range and safety (graduate) j-schools to apply to. My dream schools are Columbia and NYU, but since those are obviously quite competitive, I need some other options. I'd like to attend school in/near a major city such as New York, Chicago, or DC (but I'm not necessarily set on the East Coast). What do you recommend?</p>
<p>I graduated from Reed College in May 2010 with a degree in Political Science, and I'm currently freelance reporting. I've held three internships, have some solid clips, and scored high on the GRE. Thanks for your help!</p>

<p>I think getting into NWU’s journalism school may be just as difficult as getting into Columbia and NYU. Maybe Ohio U?</p>
<p>Northeastern’s Journalism school places well with the Boston Globe and the Herald. They have co-op internships available during the year for NU students.</p>
