backup schools vs another year at cc

I know this may be too soon to mention but if for some reason you dont get into a UC will u be going to a back up school or stay another year at cc and reapply next year?

I applied to four CSU
CSUF
CSULB
CSULA
CAL POLY POMONA

so far ive been accepted to CSULA and CSUF and although im glad i have back up options i wasnt excited when i got my acceptence letters. In fact it kinda bumbed me out to think i might be attending them. It made me wonder if maybe i shoudnt settle, and instead stay another year at cc and TAG next year to UCI.

That is of course if i dont get in to a UC this year..again i know im thinking way ahead but i cant help it lol
The wait is killng me and its only been a month!

If I were you and didn’t get into a UC I would stay another year at a CC to go to a UC. I am fortunate enough to where my back-up schools are mid-tier UC’s (UCSB and UCSD, top choices are UCLA and UCB) because my GPA is high…

@nickkwooddd my GPA isn’t too bad I have a 3.83 and I’m a history major which isn’t impacted. However I am taking non transferable math(intermed algebra) during winter and taking UC math requirement in spring and I feel like that’s going to hold me back from getting into UCs

I do think I would choose another year at cc.

lol, if you have a 3.83 GPA as a history major, you’re probably going to be accepted to Berkeley and LA. No need to worry about attending CSUs because you were rejected from the UCs.

But taking math in spring will hurt your chances of getting in to UCSB. The other UCs don’t care, contrary to popular belief on these boards. I don’t even know why UCSB care so much about that requirement.

Anyway, I’d probably just try again next year if rejected this year.

my backup is UCI and I won’t go there if I don’t get into UCB or UCSD, CS major…do that and I’ll be sad for the next two years…we have only one chance to go and live in a 4 year university, we better choose the one we really like!

Lol you may very well get into every UC with that GPA, no need to worry yet.

your gpa is fine, I wouldnt even consider csu’s if I were you.

3.83 is pretty high…no worry necessary I think…
