Bad 1st Semester Junior Year...Advice Please!

1st Semester: 2 B's (Algebra 2 & French 2), 2 C's (Honors Anatomy & APUSH) , 2 D's (AP Psych & Lang) and a F (Chem 2 Honors).

I drop out of Chem, so it won't appear in my transcript (An X instead of and F). And I'm taking Honors American instead of AP. I'm retaking AP Psych and Lang online this summer.

Right now, I have 2 A's and the rest B's. I'm still raising it up to all A's.

Will this damage my chances to universities? My overall GPA is a 3.00; I started off good my freshmen year but went downward from here 2nd Semester of my Sophomore year.

I don't know what happened, I just became overwhelmed with the work.

I'm an FL Student.

If I improve my 2nd Semester Junior year and raise my SAT score to a 1900+ and ACT 30+ will I have a chance in going to a university? Will they look at my senior year, too? I'm taking AP Lit, Honors Gov, French 3 Hon, Trig, AP Environmental, and AP Euro.

I want to show colleges that, yes, I can handle the work and I do want to go far.

Yes. A lot.

But it depends on what universities you are looking at. Your state schools won’t care; you’ll almost certainly be accepted if you show a positive trend through your remaining grades. Any mid to upper level private school is more or less out of the picture, though. Which isn’t the end of the world, in that going to a state school and getting a degree for half the price is often times the more pragmatic decision, anyway.

“University” is so broad it’s ridiculous. You’re done for Ivys if that’s what you mean.

EternalBlessings, I’ve been in your place before, but not as severe. I suffered a really really bad concussion 3rd quarter last (sophomore) year and my GPA that semester was a 3.65. Focus on getting A’s in the classes you’re taking now and you should be good for most state universities.

Sorry; I mean In-State universities and colleges. I really want to go to UCF.
