Hi! I'm not really sure if this is the right category to post this question in but yeah so basically I really like biology and I wanted to pursue it as a major in college but I got a 2 on the AP test. I got outstanding test grades in the class and got an A in the class. Getting a good grade on the AP test would have been a great asset to me and now I can't submit this to colleges. Would getting an A in the actual class be enough?

P.S. On the SAT Subject test for Biology I scored a 730.

Personally I’ve heard the AP Bio test this year was ridiculous. Like 5% of people got a 5 or something? Plus I don’t think AP scores matter THAT much in the admissions process.

I think colleges are mostly going to look at the fact that you excelled in both a rigorous class, and on the SAT subject test (good job!) I don’t think the AP score actually matters in the admission process (anyone, correct me if I’m wrong). You’re right, it definitely would have looked good, but I don’t think its going to make-or-break your offer of admission.

Ivies don’t care about AP exam scores; in fact, most of them don’t even allow you to use them to opt out of courses or get placed in higher courses. They DO care about your grades in AP classes.

"With so many incredible students submitting applications that are chockablock with great grades, challenging classes, top SAT and ACT scores, and extraordinary extracurricular pursuits, admission officials at elite colleges are increasingly looking to AP exam scores to serve as tie-breakers.
