Bad Essay Topic?

In the common app I chose the "Option #3: Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?"
I wrote about my experiences about my family and how I became an atheist. I already submitted all my applications and just now realized it may have been a bad idea. How badly will this hurt my chances of getting in to schools? I have a 3.7 UW / 4.6 W GPA and a 29 on ACT. The schools that got this essay were: Marquette, Case Western, Ohio State, Purdue, Colorado Boulder, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, University of Miami and University of Southern California. Will this essay ruin my shots?

I wrote a similar type essay, but I focused more on how it changed me and contributed to future decisions. I do think that dwelling on the actual decision too much could be harmful, buy I think that you should be fine with that topic.

I basically just talked about experiences I went through on how they were negatively impacting me and others around me. From that then I talked about the transition and how for me it was a positive, then declaring that I would make another decision if it went against my beliefs depending on how they affected my family and I.

That is only a bad idea in that it is a pretty common topic. It all depend on how you handled it and if you found any fresh or insightful way to address this, or if it gives some good background on your upbringing and your thinking. It isn’t anything to worry about and it is a done deal so no point.
