@ TheWerg: That’s… horrendous. My family income is higher than that (substantially so), so I guess I’m just royally screwed.

Do you think they’ll match the Cornell in-state tuition rate that I am offered at Cornell?

TheWerg, sorry if the info is too personal, but does your family have any other significant assets aside from making 100k a year? I’m just worried because this year Williams has offered to pay almost full price, but next year my family is supposed to make a lot more money than the last and it will be about 100k, and we will not be able to afford to pay 50k for school. As you said, it just isn’t happening. I might have to ask around…but it’d be nice to at least brace myself for the disappointment if they wont support me…

Mr Boyer at his office. He is a very nice gentleman. You will find his phone number under the williams.edu financial aid office link.

Give him a call with your concerns, but be prepared to file appropriate supporting docs and give it a whirl. Give your best shot and stay confident.

Go for it!

I wish I had seen this earlier!

I called the general financial aid office and the secretary told me that a financial aid officer would get back to me in 48 hours… not exactly the most helpful conversation.

ChandlerBing, I called and was told exactly the same thing! I don’t know why I’m surprised, it was probably the same lady lol

It’s probably because today is Saturday… in 48 hours it will be Monday and regular working hours.

Yeah, IIRC the website says that the finaid office is open M-F 8:30-4:30 or something like that. I’m gonna call Monday morning (Spring Break FTW!) and BEG.

My FinAid was amazing. TheWerg, I find it hard to believe that you only have 100k in total income and there making you pay everything. To be quite honest, your family must posses some hefty assets for that to be the case. My family makes roughly 100k with 10k in assets and our EFC is 10k (mind you we have my sister in college). And there are NO LOANS in any package by Williams. Please tell the full story when attempting to scorn the FA office at Williams.

Artemis, dont worry for next year unless your family has like 300k in savings or other big time assets.

I called Friday at around 9:30 in the morning, and got that response!

The FA officer will probably call Monday, but I’ll be at work ALL day… bleargh! Got to make some money so I can afford “miscellaneous” (;)) in college.
