Bad Fit for Medicine?

I've been interested in a variety of fields over the years, but medicine has always been in the back of my mind as a career possibility. I'm extremely intrigued by the human body, I love the idea of investigating illnesses, and of course i really really enjoy helping people.

Biology and math have always been fairly strong subjects of mine (and I enjoy them), but I LOATHE chemistry. I've noticed that all Med schools require quite a bit of chemistry, so that is a huge put-off for me pursuing medicine. Is there such thing as a Medical school student who dislikes chemistry?

From what I've described above, do I sound like a kid who could have a future as an MD?

Whether you loathe Chemistry or not is not nearly as important as how you do in your Chemistry classes. Do you do well or poorly? Do you understand the material? Those are the questions. I think most students have some area of instruction they don’t like much. Just hold your nose, learn the material, make good grades, and move on.

Now if your “loathing” means you are going to have a hard time making the grades and learning the material… Yeah. You might have a big problem being a doc because you are going to have a hard time getting in. ;)

Exactly what curmudgeon said. Not liking chemistry is perfectly fine as long as you’re still good at it.
