Freshman year and sophomore year I didn’t push myself to do well, my grades weren’t that bad however it’s not Stanford standards, although I took all honors and ap world sophomore year. I’m taking classes that interest me and are rigors junior year like ap physics, chem and stats and all honors, I’m gonna work hard to earn all As in them next year! Will my first two years bring me down or will the increase in my grades help my admissions for Stanford? Especially because im planning on applying early and senior year first semester grades won’t be in.

Thank you!
Very difficult road because you’ll be competing against others who had good freshmen and sophomore years. You’ll need to have something besides grades to make you stand out - writing ability, science prizes, MUN winning team.
Your freshman GPA is probably below most T20 standards. However, you can partially remedy this if your future GPAs draw an improving, upward-sloping curve. So take your freshman academic experience by heart and use that as a source of positive energy to move forward. With that said, although GPAs are important, the current holistic admissions process takes a multitude of factors into account, such as ECs, activities, honors, and even personal background. This explains why even students with perfect standardized test scores and GPAs do not get admitted year after year. Just remember that GPA isn’t everything, and you’ll be fine. Hope this helps.
