Bad Freshman and Sophomore year, Good Junior Year... Will Ithaca Look Past This?

Ok so my freshman and sophomore grades suck. Frosh GPA (2.7) Soph GPA (2.8). However, I'm currently a Junior and have worked really really hard this year and my GPA is now 3.5. I also see no reason why my senior GPA shouldn't be the same or higher. Will Ithaca notice my improvement? Or will they just see my current cumulative GPA (2.8) and reject me on the spot?

I'm hoping to get into the Theatre Arts Management program and am very involved in my town's arts community. I'm also very, very involved in extracurriculars (seriously it's ridiculous how many extracurrulars I do).

I'm not sure what my SAT/ACT scores will be like yet and I know I can get excellent teacher reccomendation letters.

Do I have any chance of getting into Ithaca?

Thanks!

im in a very similar situation. however my freshman gpa was a 3.0 , sophomore 3.3 and now junior will be a 3.8.
this being said, im looking to get into an ivy league. dont know how likely.
sorry i cant help more.

Deep breaths Maxiiy. You’re almost undoubtedly getting in. I’m a current sophomore. And I got in with a 2.75 overall weighted GPA, granted my SATs were amazing. But Ithaca really looks at the whole person. If you’re really involved with ECs that are relevant to your future major then it would make up for it even if they do think the GPA is lower than they’d like. For what it’s worth Ithaca is going SAT optional, meaning you don’t have to submit your SATs if you don’t want to.

aimforthesky, I really hope you’re not just applying to Ivies for the name. With a GPA like that I would broaden my reaches as unless your SAT, essays, and extra curriculars are out of this world, you are probably not going to get in to schools you’re hoping for.

Good luck to you both!
