Hey so this is my first post on this forum!

I am nervous about what schools I should apply to because my GPA and standardized test scores do not reflect each other. I have an 85 average, but did better on the SAT and ACT.
I got a 1960 on the SAT and a 31 on the ACT with a 33 in math and a 32 in science.

Right now my reach/dream school is SUNY Binghamton, but I really have no idea what schools I should be applying to. I am interested in the math and science fields, so my question is are there any good math/science schools that weigh acceptances more heavily on standardized tests than on GPA?

Thanks!

Since when did a B average = bad? Lol, I think you may be stressing yourself out too much. Are you more interested in staying in the Northeast or don’t mind location?

Staying in the North East would be ideal, however if I’m given a great opportunity elsewhere I’d definitely be open to it!

and can somebody chance me for binghamton? Is it possible to get in with an 85? (1340/1960 SAT 31 ACT)

I have pretty good extra curricular activities and service too.

nvm i would say match with that ACT score.

Hmm, with that in mind(sorry I’m leaking into midatlantic here) :
Reach: UPitt
Target schools: Drexel, Rutgers, Temple, West Chester, Penn State
Safety schools: Pace, Hofstra

I’ve actually already applied to some of those. Are they known for weighing GPA less?

I can’t say for sure honestly. I think most school admissions look at the rigor of your classes and compare them to your GPA. For example, you may be given more leeway if you take a lot of AP/honors courses with a B average, than regular courses with B+, A- average. But again, that depends on the school.

Anyway, it’s not just your GPA taken into consideration - it’s your high school profile as a whole. Maybe you can do a couple quality ECs to boost your confidence in your application a little. I’m assuming you’re a high school senior - many colleges will ask for a mid-year report, so if you can improve your GPA, it can change a “Wait-listed” status to an “Admitted” one. But SUNY Binghamton has about a 40% acceptance rate which is along the lines of UPitt - you’re not out of the running.

I know Pitt and Temple really value the grades, your ACT is high though which will help you.
