hey, my gpa is like 3.7 and im not really in the top 10% of my class, if i am its just barely but i dont think so( i go to a competetive large public school in NJ, with alot of asians lol)
i have perfect sats, near pefect sat subjects, alot of community volunteering and medical volunteering such as EMT, hospital, shadowing,im in a club, i play sports,

do you think that i will have a chance for any BA/MD programs or any kind of guaranteed medical programs?
thanks

schools obviously look at the RIGOR of your senior schedule…they might be a bit suspect if you have not taken an earlier AP classes and you would be “smart” to have A’s on your first semester grades to reflect your UPWARD trend! You might need to explain, should you be fortunate enough to interview, why your earlier GPA less than STELLAR.

you definitely have a shot…obviously schools like to see their applicants near the top of their class which suggests success relative to the similar parameters of opportunity/effort/circumstance at a given school. Perfect SAT scores may mitigate other relative “weakness” if you will in a holistic process(whatever that TRULY means and if in fact it is practiced as suggested).

I know Drexel, University of Alabama at Birmingham, and Brown all have BA/MD or gauranteed medical school admission programs.
You might want to start by looking at those.

Be sure you investigate the program requirements carefully where you apply. Many have minimum college GPA requirements to stay in. Even if you would be admitted, with your history of a lower GPA you might find it hard to maintain the 3.5 or even higher GPA required in college level courses to stay in some programs.

Yes. you have a good shot. Consider the drexel programs. They’re pretty holistic and somewhat lenient on the requirements if you’re really strong on other points.

Brown has thousands of apps for 70(?) spots and is one of the most coveted programs by Val’s and Sals.

Rutgers 7 and TCNJ 7 do not bend the rules. Now you should be shadowing a specialist doctor or doing some unusual research. My D spent days in the cardiac cath lab.

As a believer in Michelle Hernandez’s book A Is for Admission ,you should be visiting schools this summer so as to not be a ghost applicant. You should meet your respective college admission officers AND the head of the combined program for each school if possible so they get to know you.

Finally, many pediatric specialties are hurting for doctors . Pick one and be able to talk about it without notes for 30 minutes so you don’t give the I WANT TO HELP PEOPLE answer they roll their eyes at. During interviews you are going to be asked If you have the discipline to keep a 3.5 gpa in sciences and overall. You must demonstrate you can study 6 and 7 days a week to ace the American Chemical Society organic chem final given in many schools.
