Bad GPA... How bad is it?

Hi guys,
I go to school in Ontario,
My average is currently around 92% which is not that great... but that includes 7 AP courses (my school is not semestered). Would I still be competitive for a school like Stanford? I scored 2290 on my SATs and am writing the SAT IIs this Saturday. I have good ECs (but not national level), recs, and essay.

That’s around a 3.8; do you have a safety, be it in Ontario or elsewhere?

Its not a Bad GPA. For my school thats a 3.7

You need a safety, and Stanford is a reach for anyone

I have University of Waterloo computer science / University of Laurier business double degree as my safety. Still, I’d really love to go to Stanford… Would you say I am in the ballpark?

That isn’t bad at all. It may be a little low for Stanford but I have the same GPA as you, and I don’t think it is bad at all. Have some confidence in yourself! And you have great SATs. If I were you, I’d apply because you still have a shot.

I think it will be improving shortly though… do they see the November transcript or the January one? (since my school is nonsemestered)

92 with 7 AP’s is very good. I would consider applying to some highly selective schools. Maybe not Stanford but have you looked at Cornell?

I am thinking of applying to several top universities… I think my ECs are above average at least, and hopefully I’ll get lucky with one or two. That being said, I’d still love to go to Stanford as I love California and the suburban community of Stanford, as well as Silicon Valley!
