bad GPA

I was just wondering how important a GPA/class rank is when reviewed with other application info, or to what degree other factors can cancel out GPA/class rank. For instance, unweighted, i have a 2.9 and am in the 55th percentile. Weighted i have a 3.55 and am in the 40th percentile. I scored a 34 on my ACT. My extra cirriculars are pretty good, i have been involved in most all opportunites to play guitar and some playing saxophone, was in scholastic bowl and math club starting sophomore year and I started a juggling club. I am in almost all accelerated and AP classes .upposing I write decent essays and get good teacher reccomendations, what sort of colleges should i be looking at?

also im hispanic, i forgot to say that

probably should have posted this in "what are my chances" sorry

Well, what kind of school do you have in mind? Big, small, research university, liberal arts, urban, rural, etc.?

honestly, im open to basically everything right now. I just want to know what king or calibur places i should consider. I'ts hard because im usually below average gpa but above act.

you are in a quandry -- most schools that look at students holistically (EC's and essays are important) are looking for a higher GPA. To schools, a low GPA and high test scores indicate that you were capable but didn't want to do the work. If you have some reason to explain the low GPA, you would want to address it in an essay.
