Hello! I’m taking summer courses at a local college (i’m a junior in HS, senior this fall) and I think I might get B’s in both of the 2 college classes i’m taking. The problem is that they’re both not the most challenging courses possible and if I get 2 B’s, it ruins my rising trend of grades since sophomore year. So my question is that will this take a big hit on my chances at some of the good engineering schools like UT Austin, UCLA, Purdue? Or will they not look into it that much?
P.S.I’m doing early action for a lot of my schools so this might be the last grade they see.
Then obviously it will have an effect. The degree of that effect will be unknown at each of those schools since we don’t sit on the admissions board. Have you run the Net Price Calculator for each of those OOS schools to see if your family can afford them?
@“Erin’s Dad” Thanks for the reply and I know you wouldn’t know the exact degree of effect but could you estimate what would happen if I was borderline vs. someone who didn’t take college classes in the summer. As for Net Price Calculator, I have been doing it around some schools and it should be okay. Thank You for the help!
I don’t know if anyone will see this but I got my grades back and it was 1 A and 1 B. What will the affect be if the B was in a pretty hard class in terms of a tie breaker with another student with same stats (make or break)? Thanks!
One B will not break you. That’s only a part of the record they evaluate.
