In freshman year, I took Spanish 1 online during the course of the school year. However, I ended up reading the hard deadline for turning in assignments wrong, and by the time I realized my mistake, it was too late. I emailed the teacher at the time and she refused to give me an extension, so I ended up with a D in semester one. I retook Spanish 1 over the summer and easily ended up with a high A, but the first D is still stuck on my transcript D:
I’m pretty much a straight A student; the only grades that aren’t As are two Bs in honors math classes, and that D (!!). I plan on shooting for Ivy League schools when I apply for college. I’m wondering how that D will impact my chances? And is it possible to “lessen the damage” so to say if I can explain what happened and that I didn’t get a bad grade because I didn’t know the content, but rather because of a silly and awful mistake?
