My name is John and I moved from MD to NY in 9th grade. I had no idea we had Regents in this state until I took my first regents that year:Math A. I did terrible. My grade was a 78. My overall average in that class was a 76. However every other grade was an A and on B+. In tenth grade, I got all A’s and a B in math. I also got an 84 on the MAth B regents but 90+'s on the rest. Now, I am a junior and am taking the most demanding courseload possible. I also attended lab camps at Cold SPring HaRBOR and have been accepted to Rockefeller’s Science Outreach Program. I also played JV football, in Key AND FHA club and in track. I have over 200 hours of community service. Do I still have any chance at the top 25 universities with that one bad grade. BTW my overall averages in 9th, 10th are 91 and 93.

I have heard that many schools completely disregard grades for freshmen year at high school. Most other schools though will not put too much weight on freshmen year anyway. I reccomend when you do apply to explain the circumstances for that grade in additional info space and you should be fine.
