<p>Many colleges don’t look at freshman year grades, and an upward trend in GPA is looked upon very favorably. Just do better going forward. However, it may be expedient for you to disabuse yourself of the notion that “they failed you.” You got the grades you earned. If there was a valid medical reason for a grades downturn, that can be explained on the Common App. Best of luck.</p>
