Due to the fact that the NYS pe system sucks, I am forced to take 7 semesters of gym, with a gym class every single day. During freshman year, I got a high 70 in my gym class because of some psychological issues that i’ve cleared up since then. How bad will this hurt me? It would really suck to get rejected from a SUNY school because of a bad grade in a worthless class when I was 15. I’m a straight A student, with lots of AP classes and EC’s.
It won’t hurt you.
Forget about it
Been there! I failed both typing and PE in high school. I got kicked out of NHS. Had a free ride in college and grad school. Didn’t major in either area…chose something easy. Research and statistics. If PE kept me out of the school I really wanted, I could only conclude I had dodged a bullet.
Talk to your guidance counselor to find out if your school sends gym grades to colleges. My daughter’s school has gym grades on the quarterly report cards that come out but they are not included on the transcript that gets sent to colleges. Gym grades are also not averaged into our school gpa but are visible to teachers/staff who may need to know such as NHS advisor.
In a few years, you’ll look back and think this was quite comical. It won’t hurt you in any way. None whatsoever. No school takes your Gym grade into account. PLEASE DONT STRESS OVER THIS.
No school in their right mind would ever reject a student just because they didn’t do so well in a Physical Education class which has nothing to do with academics.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don’t get too concerned over this, I guarantee you there are no repercussions for this.
Many schools ignore all the non-academic grades. They don’t care what you got in Gym, Art, Chorus, Health etc… Any school that keeps you out for that is not worth going to.
When we visit colleges I ask admissions what grades they look at and I think they all said they only look at the 5 core subjects. I don’t think they care about gym and similar classes.
