Personally, I have a significant distaste for science courses overall and do not plan on entering that field of study to any capacity. Therefore, I do not plan on taking any AP sciences whatsoever with the exception of AP Environmental Science, as it is the only one that interests me. Considering I will probably enter a different field of study, is it bad that I do not plan on taking any core science courses such as AP Biology or AP Chemistry? I am instead taking AP courses in other subject areas
No. On a related note, I edited your title, because it implied that you would have no AP science, which is not the case.
I don;t think it will matter, my son feels the same way. Take classes that interest you.
While having all three of biology, chemistry, and physics in high school is preferable, it is not necessary for them to be AP level. A prospective science or engineering major would choose AP level courses if available, but that would not apply to a student not intending to major in anything science-based.
Look at some potential college’s curriculum for your potential intended major. What science do they require?
I do think as a citizen of the world that it worthwhile to take Bio/chem/physics at whatever level you feel comfortable. I agree that AP is not necessary.
I have not taken any of those and took other AP tests. I will be attending UC Berkeley so definitely it’s not a “bad idea” to not take them if you aren’t majoring in anything really related.
It really depends what the kid wants to study and where.
