Bad Individual Grades

Can colleges reject you if you have high GPA but had 1 or 2 bad (D,F,C… especially D and F) grades…

What is more important?? Good GPA?? or good invidual grades…

did you hear anything about that???

And if they care about individual grades, do they look a lot at your sophomore and freshman grades

What is the best way to overshadow a bad grade (if it can hurt)??

Summer Schoo???
AP Exam???
SAT II???
etc..

Depends. What was the class?

community college...

not only are they easy A's, they are also weighted by most colleges

If you try to remedy a grade with the remedial counterpart to the class (let's say you failed calculus, the counterpart would be Calculus I at a local community college) -- that will help your case, if you manage to succeed there.

If you failed an AP class but got a 5 on the AP test, then that may, to a lesser degree, help your case.

Still, try to steer clear.

does taking higher level courses in the subject and getting As make up for lower grades in the past??

I'm in the same position.. failing AP Calculus --

I talked to my counselor and he said that getting a good score on the AP test will definitely help

definitely repeat any D or F that you can; even if the two are averaged, it brings up your gpa. Adcoms have to have a good reason to admit anyone whose gpa and test scores are below the median for the class...

some schools like Princeton and the UC's don't look at Frosh grades.

whats the usual median of the class??

3.2sh??
