Grades aren’t so good this year (4 B’s over entire junior year) and need some suggestions on my reach and aim schools.

GPA: 3.63 U/W (Soph - Junior)
Weighted: 4.04 (Soph - Junior)
UC GPA: 3.96 (Soph - Juinor)

SAT: 750 M, 610 W, 670 R. (2030).

150+ hours of community service hours.
Extra cirriculars are mediocre-good.

Applying for CompSci:

UCSB
UCD
UCI
UCSC
UCSD

Realistically, what’s possible and reasonably within my reach?

A downward trend always hurts considerably. Your UC GPA looks okay, however. I think your application is a little weak but stands a chance at some of the schools listed. Have you looked at schools outside the UCs? You could be a good candidate for decent state schools.

@outlooker Its not a huge downward trend, maybe 1-2 B’s worse than my previous junior year semester. Could you be more specific as to which UC’s my app is considered weak in, and which ones I can reasonable be accepted into? Thx

I honestly don’t have much expertise on the UCs so can’t give a really good chance on specific schools. Hopefully someone else on CC can answer that question for you. If you don’t get in, look at schools like UW Madison, Ohio State, etc. These are pretty good universities where you should be able to get in.
All the UCs have acceptance rates at or below 35% and they put lots of emphasis on GPA so you might not get in.

I think you should be able to get into any of the ones you said… Easily. Except UCSD. Its competitive… Increase your SAT score and you should be fine (not much you can do for GPA).

True compsci is competitive… But I feel good

You are a competitive applicant however CS is really tough. Your chances are good at all the schools except for UCSD which will be more of a High Match/Low Reach. UCSC is a solid match.
