Bad Junior year. Will I get in?

Well, I’ve always been extremely ambitious and I’ve always had really good grades, but I had a bunch of stress and problems this year. My grades dropped because I couldn’t deal with it all at the same time.

Freshman Year:
No APs, All As/ A-s
First semester 4.0 UW
Second Semester: 3.94 UW
Classes:
Spanish 2, Oral Composition (Like a speech and Debate class)
Geometry A- it was the only advanced track our school offered
English 1A- ^^^^^
Cultural history
Biology

Sophomore Year:
1 AP, 1 Weighted Honors Class, All As/ A-s
Both Semesters: 3.78 UW
Spanish 3
English 2A
Algebra 2/ Trig
Honors Chemistry
WHAP

Junior:
3 APs, 2 honors classes,
First Semester: 3.5 UW
Second Semester: mostly will be a 3.22 if I get the worst possible grades
AP Bio (B+, C+/B-)
APUSH (B+, A-)
AP Spanish (B-, B)
Honors Pre-Calculus (A, B/B+)
Honors English (A-, B+/A-)
Photography (A,A)

My AP Tests were really good this year and I’m expecting 4s or 5s on all of them. I also self-studied AP Psychology and took that exam. I chose not to take the AP Spanish exam because I didn’t feel like I learned enough in the class to pass the exam, but I plan to take the SAT Subject Test for Spanish in November to compensate for that.

Other SAT Subject Tests:
Math 1- 750
Biology- 730, Retaking
Math 2- Need to take
Spanish- Need to take
Chemistry- Need to take

SAT- I’m shooting for a 2300. I got a 2050 last time, but I’ve been doing more practice tests and I’m reaching my target score.
ACT- 32 or above. Same as the SAT. I’ve been taking practice tests. The Exams are in the next two weeks.

Extracurriculars:
President of Habitat for Humanity for 2 years, was an unofficial officer the year they founded it. It was the year before I became president.
Treasurer of Indian Club and active member for 2 years. It’s not just an ethnic club. We also work in charity work.
Active Member of Speech and Debate. I’ve done well at tournaments, and I’m going to do more next year too! I’ve been in debate all four years.
Math Tutoring: I tutor students during school hours during lunch or homeroom and I’m part of a summer program that tutors kids in math every week.
Hospital Volunteering: I volunteered for Kaiser Hospital last year and I am currently training my for my upcoming volunteering this year at Stanford Hospital.
Head Counselor at a Table Tennis Summer Camp- 300 hours.
Tennis Team- 3 years. I skipped this year.

Work:
Head Counselor job the summer before sophomore year

If I expect the worst of this year’s gpa and the best of my sat scores, I should end up with around a 3.57 gpa and a 2300 sat. Bad gpa and good sat score.

So, do you guys think I can make it? Could you also tell me other schools I might have a chance at?

Thank you in advance

Depending on your major, I’d say it would be a high match for an impacted major (like bio or engineering), and match for an non-impacted major. I’d do some EC stuff over the summer just in case though

if you’re going for biomedical engineering or other impacted biological sciences majors, you’re gonna have a hard time. but if you go for biosystems engineering or other normal majors, then i’m pretty sure you can get in!

I lied. Things have really gone down hill for me and I have no idea why. I think the highest gpa i can get this semester is a 3.05. I’m going to change my major to something more basic, do summer classes to bring my GPA up, and definitely get better grades next year. I hope I can at least get into Davis. I can still get a 3.6 overall GPA with my grades so far. Do I still have a chance?

Hey dude – Just try your best. I’d say definitely do your best to get the highest ACT / SAT score you possibly can, but at least your overall GPA is still relatively ok. Not to mention that UC’s count weighted GPAs and you take lots of APs and honors so your weighted GPA is probably going to be higher than 3.

I got off the waitlist for UC Davis when I applied with a 3.4 unweighted GPA and a 35 ACT score, and then I got invited to apply for the honors challenge too (top 15% of incoming freshmen apparently?). The fact is, what will be will be. The only thing you can do now is work hard and do your best. UC Davis is a great school and I got in with a pretty terrible GPA. (I am in the 60% percentile for my school with my GPA…)

Are there any specific reasons why your GPA tanked so low in junior year? If you faced any hardships or difficulties during this time period of your life you should go mention them in your essays for the UC as an explanation.

Your EC’s are fabulous. They alone will get you in. BTW I’m lying also.

^^^^ CREEEEP !!! … I think its a high match low reach …

Than again maybe a reach … because I have a 3.75 gpa and a 30/31 on ACT and people tell me im a high match …

Your SAT is good but you have a bad downward trend, even within your junior year so I would say it would be a low reach.
