Is a 740 in Math II good enough for Stanford with a major in economics or biology?

that shouldn't be a problem. it certainly isn't going to help but it won't hold back an otherwise strong application. i had the same score and got in as a possible engineering major.

what do u mean by possible? r they going to tell u if you're going to get in or not to engineering?

I believe that you don't declare your official major until after your first year. However, if you already know what field you want to study, you can take classes that are related to your major. For example, math and science classes for those majoring in engineering.

They care about your classes more than your scores. I had a Math IIC of 640 and was accepted into the engineering school.

Stanford does not accept you into a specific major. You have to declare your major by the end of sophomore year.

hence "possible engineering major"

Yeah, guess that's what I meant. Sorry

It's a great score. Certainly higher than mine and I was accepted.

its not great but i doubt it would hurt you too much if your other scores are good

People get into stanford with much lower math II scores. However, having higher test scores will help you. People with 800s get rejected. People with 600s get in. It depends on the rest of your application whether you get in/not. Having higher test scores increases your probability of being accepted.
