I've just gotten my SAT scores back, and I've done horribly in math AGAIN. Writing: 800, Reading: 800, Math: 570 :(
All that I studied this time and the time before was math. Last time I got a 560 in math. I just can't believe with all the preparation I did that I was only able to raise my score 10 points. Anyway, I was just wondering exactly how bad this would look on my college apps. I definitely have no plans to major in anything science or math related. Do colleges take this into account when they view my scores? Or does it just look like I'm not a well-rounded student?
In addition, I know my top choice school only takes math and reading, making my score seem even worse, but I also know that the school does not view standardized test scores as imperative to the application process.

-Schools I'll Probably Apply to
Pitzer (top choice)
Scripps
Pomona (huge reach for me, but I adore the school, so I'm not going to let that keep me from applying)
USC
UC Berkeley
UCLA (maybe)

-Safeties
University of Redlands
American University of Paris
+ There are a couple more I'm still looking into, but I want to make sure that all my safeties are schools that I actually like.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read this. I know I have a tendency to ramble on haha. Anyone who chooses to respond to this is a huge help, and just know that I appreciate it greatly.

I wondered the same thing when my D was applying to colleges. She had similar scores to yours. It made it hard to determine how she would fare when her CR and W scores were above the 75th percentile and her M score was around or below the 25th percentile. It will likely be a deal killer at a top 20 U unless you’re hooked. But for LACs in the 25-50ish range, her scores weren’t an issue. I think all of the schools to which she applied counted writing, which was a plus. I’d assess your chances based on the combined score.

I have the same question about CR and @vestap, how did you get an 800 on both reading and writing. I am a sophomore and I just got my PSAT scores back and I did awful. I got a 67 in Math, 65 in Writing, and a 53 in reading (lol). How can I improve my reading, I remember during the test, I did not finish either of the reading sections and left a total of 9 blank. Could pacing be my issue? I have to admit, I am not the fastest reader. I was wondering how I could improve my reading and writing scores. And to answer your question, you may want to review all of the concepts in Geometry, Algebra II, and Algebra I in case you have forgotten some (since I saw no pre calc or calc on the psat), and make sure to review what you got wrong and cut down on arithmetic mistakes. Also, you may want to get a TI-84 Calculator if you do not have one already. Also, by your experience, how much do you think I could raise my scores with extensive studying? Thanks.
