I heard that rutgers was in a bad neighborhood.
Which campus has the best and safest surrounding neighborhood?

Plus my gpa is a 3.0 and I am a transfer student from NYC. What do you think are my chances.

new brunswick is the main campus and the surrounding neighborhood isn't bad at all.

BUT.. for camden and newark, it's quite different. camden has a reputation of being the most dangerous city in the united states, but the area where rutgers is not bad at all. i went there for a whole year and had no problems whatsoever. it's just the reputation that's bad.

as for newark, i've heard it's pretty bad but i don't know what it's like around the rutgers campus.

So new brunswick is a good neighborhood then?

yes. .

Parts of New Brunswick are bad, but they dont directly neighbor any of the campuses.

The area around Rutgers Newark is called "university heights" and also includes the campus of NJIT and some other college i think. I don't think that the neighborhood is too bad.

Camden is notorious for being a dangerous place to live, but I can't deny or confirm that because I've never been there. Newark isn't exactly the greatest place to be, but when I went to the academic orientation for Rutgers College, one of the speakers said something like the Newark campus is one of the safest in NJ because of the security. That's pretty impressive, but there are a lot of violent crimes in that city. I chose the New Brunswick campus because I think it's the most reputable Rutgers campus according to what I've heard from other people.

As for your GPA, I think it's okay depending on what college you're trying to get into. I think 3.0 and an 1100 SAT score could get you in, but you'd need better stats to get into say the School of Pharmacy.
