I just had a phone interview for a scholarship a couple of hours ago and I don't think it went very well. When they called to confirm, they said it would be around 10-15 minutes but it was only around 8 minutes. I was very nervous, and it doesn't help that I have phone-related anxieties. I'm pretty sure I started most of my sentences with an 'um'. However, I feel that my actual application was pretty strong.

My question is, after a bad phone interview, is it still possible to receive a scholarship? Will they look back to my application or is it down to what I said in the interview?

In any case, a good interviewer knows that any applicant is going to be nervous. Hopefully, the person interviewing you took that into account. I have to admit that starting your sentences off with “umm” a lot is a turn off. However if you gave thoughtful, honest responses along w/ a strong application you should still have a pretty good chance.

Thanks for the response! I was really beating myself up earlier but that was my first ever phone interview so I’ll just look at it as a learning experience. I felt the need to answer quickly to avoid the phone silence so my answers definitely could have been better.
