Bad Prereq Grade?

I am a junior intending to attend graduate school for Development Economics or International Econ etc. I have taken Calculus and Business Stats and recieved a D+ and C+ respectively. This was early on in college However, I got things together and I am in Econometrics and International Trade expecting A's in each. Calc & Stats are prereqs to upper level classes that I am doing much better in. How will graduate schools view this?

If you’ve only had the one term of calculus, you should take more calculus. Do you need to retake the course you took to advance to the next level? Showing that you are capable of doing the work well should help.

Well, the problem is Georgetown’s policy is that you can only retake a course if you fail. I could take Calculus 2, but given my program it’s a bit inconvenient. Would doing well in the current courses that are Calc heavy prove I can handle the course load?

If it is clear that the upper level classes are calc heavy, it might help. You can retake calculus without taking it at Georgetown, by the way.

I think that is actually a good idea; maybe at a community college to show understanding of the subject. All of my grades were low during that time and they are now substantially higher. So, it may just show a lack of commitment to school, not understanding of the material? For example Econometrics is very calc heavy. Though, your solution is a good idea to consider before I apply; thanks!
