Bad PSAT score- is there any way to still get a scholarship?

When I took the psat a couple months ago, I didn’t score very well and was not eligible to be considered for a national merit scholarship. However, I was reading a couple other threads and people were saying that they hadn’t scored well but would try “next year” to get in? I’m confused; I thought that it’s only your junior year’s PSAT score index that determines eligibility.

Some people take it as sophomores and freshmen, so they can still retake if they got a bad score. If you are a junior, then that was the last chance for the PSAT, sorry. But you can still study for the SAT, which is far more important for every almost other scholarship out there except for NMSC’s scholarships.

Junior year is the only eligible year for taking PSAT for NSM.

However if you do better on SATs, then you may be eligible for merit scholarships at colleges but not through NMS.
