Bad SAT 2 scores: Retake same tests, or take different ones?

I'm trying to go to stanford and i got kinda setback after seeing my june 4 sat 2 scores:

physics - 660
us history - 660

so, im wondering if i shud retake the same tests, or take different tests altogether, like bio e or something. any response would be appreciated.

stanford doesn't require SAT IIs.

but some reason i have the idea that every1 applying will give their sat 2 scores, and my void will be worse than even my sorry ass 660

and CB says stanford 'recommends' them

Unless you submit only the ACT Stanford will see them (you could theoretically though take the ACT and submit only that).

recommend != requires

just submit those. we all seem to think the sat is everything, even though it is important.

reccommend always means required

It depends. If you studied and got those scores, then stick with them. If you didn't study and like those subjects, retest. That's my plan. I got 660's too! Ugh!

I got a 650 physics and I am retaking! For a school like Stanford, good=above 700. Great=above 750.

More like for a school like stanford, good=above 750 and great=800

Word.

OP should retake for sure, those scores are sub-par for Stanford’s level.

No you must re-take them for Stanford.

Retake if you know you can do better (assess what you did wrong your first time around, take a few more practice exams, review, etc). A 660 vs. 680 as the new score probably won’t make much a difference, but a 700+ vs. 660 would.

Retaking is fine as long as the message you’re sending is that you didn’t achieve your potential the first time around and that your true potential is much higher (as will be shown by a higher second score). Retaking is not fine when the message is that of a student haphazardly taking an exam in hopes of scoring a few points higher.
