So, I got a really bad SAT score of 1220 :(. I did not really prepare and totally forgot that I had to write an essay. I plan to study this summer and take it again in october to get a score of above 1800. is it possible to ras my score at least 580 points?

If you work hard the jump shouldnt be that hard. just work hard on math, and the essay is really important, read some guides to write good essays. Read everyday to enrich your vocab and you should be good to go. Good luck

How did you get a 1220?

Unless you had the worst day in history, I doubt you can bring up your score that much.

^That’s not necessarily true, it becomes easier to raise your score the lower your original score is.

Learning concepts, learning the format of the tests, and practicing, does wonders.

the lower your starting score, the easier it is the raise. its much easier to go from 1220 to 1230 then to go from 2000 to 2010. Just study and be prepared. Forgeting about the essay just shows lack of effort and how you aren’t taking the test seriously. If you want the grade, you need to put in the effort

I got a 22/36 on the ACT composite in eighth grade (I didnt study anything except for math, where i got a 27/36) Is that a relatively good score for when you take it for real?

Getting a 1220 requires a serious lack of knowledge. For a normal person it would be easy, but some people are just plain dumb.

itry-It’s above the national average for juniors, not by much though. Interpret that how you want.

Ok thanks, I was taking it for a summer program.

Any update? Did you retake it?

i went from a 1640 to a 1880…and im taking again Saturday

so anything is possible

i think you just need a lot of practice. try practicing the official SAT tests and if you want more practice, you can use 11 practice tests for the SAT by princeton review. pacing is the most important part of the test. did you leave a lot blank or guess on a lot? first you have to identify your problem and then work hard to improve and make your weakness your strength. Good luck!
