Bad SAT score? summer work here we go!

hey guys!
So here's the news, i see alot of people with 2000+ on the CC forum and congrats to you, i know some maybe disappointed at the fact that you may have not reached your target score or "superscore" but hey honestly there are some people who would kill for a 2000+ so dont beat yourself if you dont get that grade, yet instead relax and congratulate yourself. My main intention for this post is because, although there are many people who got the high 2000, im pretty damn sure there are many people who did not, so for those who are aiming to do there 2nd or 3rd retake in October 2010, i want to start a journey with those willing to work over the summer. Despite your SAT grade currently, might i suggest that the best way to optimize your grade is not through Princeton review, Kaplan, Huntington, etc, but its YOURSELF. Yes im pretty sure your parents said that before or the review book your dreading to open again on warm summer days but hey lets face it, we need those target scores, and despite what everyone says about it not being important, the SAT's does play a large chunk in college decision and it has been for the past previous years, so i cant offer any remorse or sympathy other than just work at it. Anyway i would like to start off by saying my goal for October is a 1800-1900, i think its very achievable and most of the schools im applying to are around that area, current im at a 1610, and my worst moments are during the test where i start freaking out because i didnt answer a question correctly. These are my problems to those willing to work with me please post your problems, experiences during the test, weather it maybe time, frustration, difficulty with a question, please post, and your worst section weather it maybe writing, critical reading, or math

I honestly applaud to those willing to work over the summer, i know its hard to pick up those books again, but now you know that im suffering along with you, so please look back ask any question that you may not know, and im hoping for those who recieved the high 2000's please post some tips, that you may have used or some review books that you have found helpful.

Some Factors To Think About
-The SAT is evil, yes but its purely a logic test therefore every question is solvable
-3 books i have seen quite frequently used on this forum site was Direct Hits and Rocket Review along with of course Blue Book (please anyone with these books offer your opinions)
-This forum has really helped me raise my critical reading score due to Noitaraperp's approach to the critcal reading section, heres the link, very useful http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/750399-how-attack-sat-critical-reading-section-effectively.html?highlight=noitaraprep

-I failed to find any specific Math help but please if anyone has any plans to approach it

Lastly i found this site very helpful for grammer

In 3 months i hope to see those who join with me, weather it maybe one or 1000000, to all be happy with their grades and know that despite the outcome that they gave it their best, and HERE WE GO!!!!!

yeah I’m definitely one of those people who would kill to get a 2000+
I received a poor score on my first attempt, and I was hysterically crying about it earlier this morning

my math score was the lowest, then critical reading, and writing was my highest

What really frustrated me about my score is that all of my scores from the collegeboard practice tests were significantly higher than what I received on the actual test. ( I’m actually beginning to wonder if a mistake was made) Plus they always had this trend - Critical reading - the highest, writing next, and then math. I’m really trying to figure out what went wrong during the test - the low math score was expected but the poor Writing and Critical reading scores came as a complete shock to me - I was pretty confident about those sections.

I might study over the summer, but I don’t know if it’s worth it (my score was pretty discouraging) I might just scrap the SAT altogether and take the ACT

good plan though! glad to see I’m not the only one

good post :)

I’ll join you too. I am NOT happy with my scores :(

peacelovesoul, i encourage you to try whichever test may seem easier for you, but dont give up hope that you cant ever achieve that perfect score on the SAT, i understand that its hard i had to go through 3 hour lectures from my past SAT class and i felt pretty dissapointed at the fact that i didnt break at least 600 on the critical reading myself

time to stay up late in the SUMMER (■■■) and study math and do AP summer work I guess. Fun fun

same here! I’ll go on the journey with you…hahah I got a 1750 combined from May and June and I must improve!

and peacelove-i was crying all morning too! I was so dissapointed in mine!

Yeah I’m with you guys! Let’s do it!

BigWorld-did you honestly get 300s? It doesn’t seem plausible!

Lmao, no. It was a joke seeing as a lot of people in that thread got high scores and were disappointed :P.

haha i knew it. what did you get, if you don’t mind me asking?

Well I took it back in May and got a 1970. Trying to push for a 2000+ in October.

uhh you did so much better than me!

Lol nah not really. A 1750 is great. We just got to push for those 2000’s now :D.

Hey i got a 1750 and I will be studying EVERYday this summer in order to raise my score to at least a 1900.

same steffc973! pm me and maybe we could help each other devise plans!

Yeah seriously…this is gonna be more work than in the school year. I’m looking at an hour or so SAT prep everyday, then 1hour AP chem work, 1 hr AP US work, 1 hr AP Chem, and about 2 hrs AP Spanish. Hell I’ll be pulling all nighters in the SUMMER wth

my daily schedule is 2 hours of SAT prep (maybe more) 1 hour AP Psych 1 Hour Enviormental 2 hours of Gov/Pol and an hour or so of AP Calc. Then I work part time at Best Buy almost every other day !

yeah i didnt do so hot in reading, but i did average in math and writing

im gonna be doing about 1-2 hours of studying daily

Steffc973: do you have like AP hw over summer or wat

Yup a lot of AP work. But if i stick to that schedule than i’ll be done with it by mid-july and then i can spend most of my time working on SAT prep.
