Hi. I'm currently a junior, I took the SAT on March 13th and got my scores back
Math: 580
Writing: 460 (9/12)
Reading: 480
(Total: 1520)

it was my first time taking the test and in the upcoming weeks I'll be starting the Princeton Review SAT prep class, by how much do you guys think my scores will go up after the lessons?

and I'm interested in majoring in Finance/Accounting
what schools should i consider with these scores?

P.S. I'm a Boston resident

I haven’t taken any prep classes. A friend of mine had a similar SAT score (1590) and he took the Kaplan Course. CC’ers are quick to say that Kaplan isn’t a very good course but my friend’s results said otherwise. He got a 2150 on his next SAT. Pretty big jump, but he did study independently as well.

I’m sure that with a course and the right attitude, meaning loads of independent study, you’ll get the score you want. Perhaps not as drastic as my friend’s, but you never know.

Best of luck:)

yes i understand

would it help if i have a whole of lot Extracurricular activities
because i have participated in a lot of programs and activities in school and have done a lot of community service hours

Oh yeah definitely. The admissions process is more than a bunch of numbers. If you bring your SAT score up, assuming your GPA is good, you have as good a chance as any.

Your essays, EC’s, and teacher rec’s are a huge part of admissions.

Besides, you’ve taken your SAT only once, there’s lots of room for improvement! So don’t give up hope.

Boston University is a great place, I’ve visited, and there accounting program is excellent!

i have a B- average, mainly because of my freshman year when i started playing sports, i didn’t know how to manage my time so my grades slipped drastically

but i had BU on my list along with several out of state schools ex. penn state (thinking about 2+2 idea), univ. of Illinois, just to name a few
