HI I RECEIVED MY SAT SCORE THAT SAID 1260 ! I FEEL LIKE ITS THE END OF THE WORLD! My GPA is quite high 4.0 and im taking dual creds class ! Now BOOM I failed SAT AND ACT ! I know I can take it again but my dream of getting to top college is crushed . I was wonder if ACT and SAT is the most important thing ? I will retake it again ! But I feel so low right now

Just study effectively this summer and retake it again. There are numerous practice tests available to you (for free) so there’s no reason that you wouldn’t have a good idea of your score range for next time. You can just send your higher score. Even if colleges require seeing all of your SAT scores, I suggest not wasting any time in preparing for a much better score in the future. Your standardized test scores are definitely of crucial importance, but the SAT/ACT are definitely coach-able tests. Good luck!

Go with test-optional schools. There are hundreds out there, including some highly-selective, prestigious ones. Check out the fairtest.org website. The chance of improving your score by hundreds of points is exceedingly slim. Any improvement will help, and you should certainly try, but those scores will not be competitive at any selective colleges that require test reports. Were all three very low, or just one? If it was a single, disastrous score, it could have been an error in filling “bubbles,” but three low scores indicate testing difficulties that another seating won’t erase. Good luck.

Study a lot for them and take lots of practice tests! SAT/ACT are important, but you can compensate for your scores, if you score poorly, with a killer essay! You’ll be fine! Good luck! :)

How’d you do on the act? These scores don’t define you. I’m not happy with my scores either and it doesn’t help that almost everyone on here is pulling a 2000+

I did really bad at my ACT

Same thing is happening to me I have a good GPA but bad test scores. @pypypypy

A weighted GPA in the 3s is not a good GPA @tesfayeB. Sorry if this is harsh but you need to be realistic in order to have options come decision time.

Same situation as me 1290 on the SAT is holding me back, I have an unweighted GPA of 3.75 for 10th and 11th grade.

When I was applying to colleges the same thing happened to me. I had the exact same score and I took an SAT class and retook the test and scored lower. I did better on the ACT, but still not great. By looking at my test scores and GPA you’d think I was two completely different students. Some people just aren’t great test takers! I was scared to apply to more selective schools because of my test scores, but I was still accepted to every school I did apply to, so don’t give up! Test scores aren’t everything and they don’t prove anything, in my opinion. I was successful in college and now I have a full time job with my degree. Write a killer essay, and apply to the schools you want to, with some safeties. Even if it’s not a top school, you’ll get accepted somewhere and I’m sure you will succeed wherever you end up. Don’t give up!
