bad SAT scores

How much do they really matter? I mean mine aren't horrible (720 V 750M, 750,640,730). I mean I've heard from other threads like Columbia that SAT scores are actually less stressed on uopn than say one's essay and personality. Does it hold true for Cornell? Cuz that 640 is not looking very pretty right now

your scores are in the middle 50 for cornell probably. Your SATI is def fine, and I had a 650 on lit and I got in.

A quote from a Princeton U. adcom is "SATs count less than you think and more than colleges want to admit."

I had a 720 m 730 v

660 chem and i got in

u should be fine

"SATs count less than you think and more than colleges want to admit"

what the hell does that mean?

Colleges say they matter less than they actually do, but people still think they matter much more.

I had a 690 M, 600 V and I got in

Oh my god, a 1470? You must be retarted (sarcasm). When I see a thread title like that, I expect to see a top 1% kid with an 1180 or something.

You'll be just fine with those scores, at just about any school. I wouldn't worry much about your test scores, that definitely won't stop you from getting in to Cornell.

Thats kinda like me..my SAT scores are 1250..AHH! but my GPA is a 3.9..i applied to the Arts and Science..most liekly wont get in..! oh well..worth a shot!

My friend got in with a 1230 to Engineering. There is always hope. I had a 1290 and an 89 GPA with 1 AP Class. Don't ever lose hope. Keep a positive attitude.

Omg, are you serious?!?! I seriously feel sorry for all these extremely uptight people who have scores like yours and still obsess over them...honestly, CHILL homie!!!!!

I'm not obsessing over myself....I was just excited...But i apologize for "obsessing" over myself if it appeared that way

She wasn't referring to you, Xavier...It was pretty obvious.

Whoops. Sorry. :)

Don't worry about it

You're totally fine. At schools like Cornell, it's not how high they are. Ivies view them more like a check off: if you're in a reasonable range (as you easily are), it doesn't matter if it's a 1450 or a 1550. They both say that you're an intelligent student with some common sense and good testing ability. They're looking beyond scores.

Sorry, I wasn't like trying to ***** about anyone in particular, I just think some people need to chill...but xavier I def wasn't hating on you, I like people who realize that you can still live life if you don't have a 1500 or whatev :)

I had 1320 and got in;;;;

Im so excited about these stories because I have a 1370 and 710/700/700 for SAT IIs, plus I've gotten some science awards and such throughout my duration at highschool, so I do think that I have a pretty good chance of getting into Cornell (though I applied to CAS for biochem, so that may go against me)

"I have a pretty good chance of getting into Cornell (though I applied to CAS for biochem, so that may go against me)"

how is that bad?

i think he/she meant that biochem is a common major.
