Bad SAT Subject Test score

I just received my SAT Biology score and, I’m not sure what happened that day, but got a really, really bad score.

I got a 580. I know this is laughable, but I do believe I have the potential to do well on other areas of the application, such as the SAT.

I know that some colleges allow Score Choice, but I’m aiming for colleges that don’t, such as Penn. If I receive high scores on the SAT and 2 other SAT subject tests, will the 580 severely affect the admissions process? Is Penn completely out of my reach?
I have already taken it twice (first score was 650). Since I plan to take the SAT and 2 other subject tests, I don’t really have the time to retake the Bio test. I need help.

Any suggestions or guidance would be greatly appreciated.

No.

Assuming, and we know what happens when you assume, that the other parts of your application are stellar, you would have the same sub-10% chance as everyone else. But the 580 on its own will not mean that your application will automatically go into the circular file. Good luck.

I would say that as long as you get some pretty good SAT scores and SATII scores, you will be fine. I feel like everyone has that one score (maybe not everyone, but most people), so dont worry and just submit it and hope for the best. Good luck!
