Bad Semester

I started this year off with a 3.1 and kinda slacked off this semester. Now I have two d's and three c's on my transcript. I take mostly duel credit courses and I am involved in several extracurricular activities. Based on my PSAT scores I should get around a 1650 on the SAT. I still have next semester and the first semester of my senior year, and I was wondering how badly this semester will effect my chances of getting into Purdue's Undecided engineering program. Im an Indiana resident if that helps.

bump…

Take a look at the Common Data Set (section C7) and see how you compare. [Common Data Set - Purdue University](http://www.purdue.edu/oir/CDS_Post/cds11_c.htm) Looks like only 17% of admitted students had a 3.24 or below. At least some of those will be athletes. You’ll need to do much better on the SAT as well.

You possess a 3.1GPA which is about to drop and you’re considering applying to one of the most renown engineering universities in the US. I really think you need to have a sit down honest discussion with your guidance counselor. I think your goal, at this moment, is unrealistic.

Frankly, you’ve not hit an academic productive time yet as a HS student.

By your own reporting you’re a “B” student who is getting worse. You need to turn things around quickly. This semester isn’t only BAD, it was your opportunity to mature and show improvement. Your ECs are not important to your eventual college. If they take away from your time in the books, I suggest removing them.

Please take my advice to see your guidance counselor. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I will talk to my guidance counselor once I return from winter break.
