Hi guys..I've been recently accepted into JMU woot! but my senior grades are really worrying me...its not that my GPA as a whole is suffering but its this ONE CLASSSSSS..AP calculus BC thats troubling me..Right now, it's the beginning of 4th quarter and I dont even think I can switch out of the class and since 4th quarter is basically cumulative tests and AP review tests, I dont have the confidence to raise my grades significantly to boost my poor grade..

This is what I think I'll end up with by the end of the year..

AP calc BC - on the borderline between F and D..........:'(
AP English - B
AP Gov - C , C+
AP Stat A-, A
Elective 1 - A or A-
Spanish 5 - A
Human Physiology- B, B+

Do you think they'll rescind my acceptance?
I dont have any good excuses other than ..that I HATE MATHH dont know why I took AP calc..

I have taken 9 AP classes throughout highschool and have never gotten below C..
AHHHHHHHHHHHHH also..my teacher is an *** and does not give extra credit/ make up work or any sort of that kind..

Please give me some feedbacks and your opinions as to what I should do..(other than study your ass off in 4th quarter) Thank you in advance :)

If you don’t want to, as you put it, “study your a55 off in 4th quarter”, I don’t think there’s anything we can say that will help you.

If you get a D or an F in any class in the final semester of your senior year, there’s a very good chance that JMU will consider recinding your acceptance. I’ve seen it happen with other VA state schools.

Complaining about your teacher not giving you special consideration to help raise your grade will not impress anyone at JMU who will decide your fate. You should understand that you don’t “deserve” a passing grade just because you don’t like the course.

Frankly, you don’t sound terribly mature which may make them wonder whether you are ready for college work. College professors aren’t known for being sympathetic to complaints like yours.

Sounds like really bad HS guidance department…if you are not a math student, you shouldn’t be in AP Calc.

I think you can explain to JMU, if asked, that you are not a math student, and were not advised properly by your HS counselor as to the difficulty level of the class.

Not everyone should be taking every AP class offered by their school. It should be decided by interest level, and possible choice of college major.

I am sure you will be fine. Good luck at JMU! My son goes there, he will be a senior next year.

I took 4 AP’s my senior year (9 in total) and knew what I was signing up for. It was probably a colossal mistake to to sign up for AP Calc if you hate math. I didn’t hate math but was not that great of a math student so I didn’t sign up for any AP math courses.

JMU may view this as a sign of immaturity on your part as Jblue said. You should really be focusing on trying to raise the grade as high as possible. It sounds impossible at this point but you really have no other choice.
