bad start in physics, advice?!?!

so im taking mechanical physics at my local community college, also registered in calculus 2. first of all i love both these classes. calc 2 is somthing i feel like i excel at, but PHYSICS is horrible. i love the idea/concepts but my issue is applying them. we had an exam monday and i did terrible on it (50%). the part that really bothers me is i studied so hard 2 weeks in advance... MIT lectures on the daily, constantly reading the book, redoing masteringphysics problems. my professor also doesnt contribute, very hard instructor but doesnt teach much. i guess my question is what other sources could i use to help? besides tutors(im broke), i can buy a few books, but really interested in videos/lectures. anything is appreciated. thanks

Check out K h a n Academy.

i have been using this also…

Do you know the average score of your class? I got a 51.5/100 on an exam, but the average score was a 33/100, so I got an A.

Seek extra help in the class from your teaching assistant. Ask a lot of questions in class. Talk to the professor and ask for remedial work. It is important for the professor to see that you are sincerely trying and working hard.

I find studying in groups to be crucial for exams. Also try to figure out where your professor pulls test questions from. It can help focus your studying if you know most problems will be from the notes or from homework. I too am curious what your class average was.

I got a 33 on my first physics test and I ended up getting an “A” on the class. Lesson: its not over until its over, good luck!
