I have a good unweighted GPA(3.8). On the other hand, my ACT score is pretty low(22 with a writing score of 9). The reading section really brought my composite score down because I only was able to read the first passage and answer the questions pertaining to the first passage. My english score was 24, my math score was 25, my reading score was 16, and my science score was 23. Whenever I have to take a standardized test, I always have so much anxiety. Standardized tests are so nerve-wrecking because they basically determine if you will get into a good college. I score well on practice tests at home, but when it comes to taking the real test, I get so nervous because I want an excellent score. When I take practice tests at home, I would normally score in the mid or high 20s. I am a rising senior and I am planning on taking every ACT test until December. I am determined to make the score I want so that I can go to my desired college.

Go get a prescription of some anti-anxiety medication? Maybe something like amitriptyline or xanax.

Do lots of practice on the reading one at home and get to know which section you do he best/fastest. I had anxiety when I took my first act but I found this really helped me. Once you figure this out you can do the reading by section: easiest to hardest. That really made it a lot easier and less nerve racking when I took it.

Do you rush though the tests? If you’re rushing take more time and if you don’t know the answer guess. Weirdly enough, statistics show guessing the same letter every time will lead to more correct guesses than switching letters randomly. I always pick c ;)
