Bad things that have happened in your school?

Alix - Yes I did know most of that stuff…like I said, my tour guide was really into it lol. There’s reason the first definition of NYU on Urban Dictionary is “v. - to commit suicide.” That’s so funny about Washington Square Park… reminds me of Poltergeist. I’m living in Brittany this year and supposedly it’s haunted, but the worst thing that’s happened in my room so far is my radio keeps turning on at random times during the day.

The engineering tower suicide could be a rumor but 2 things got me to believe that it happened. My friend (who’s 2 years older) said that one morning when he was walking by engr tower, he saw police tape and people crowding around engineering tower. And second, this was told during my first year in the dorms and the person told us to not bring this up in front of another staffer living in the hall because she knew the person who jumped.

Heh im surprised some of that stuff happens at Irvine…How’s the party scene overall?

Someone who transferred into Stetson University tried to kill herself multiple times because she was targeted from the moment she first transferred in. The situation ended up worse when someone targeted her just to pull her into drama she should not have been pulled in. (The girl who pulled her into drama claimed she was raped by a frat boy).
The person who transferred in also ended up borderline sexually trafficked (brought a toy gun to school just to protect her self from most of campus so she could finish up some classes).

And some alpha chi sorority girls (as well as some other sorority girls) tried to murder her and a friend that was visiting her.

There is a hall called Elizabeth hall that is rumored to be haunted (some of the ghosts supposedly suicide victims).

I’m at a smaller private university and we have nothing interesting - ever. Our campus is so quiet that we only have one security guard.

Although, I just finished a summer class at community college. My A&P professor was a Vietnam veteran. A few years ago a student went insane and ran into his class and stabbed this professor in the leg. The student ran off, but this professor -with a bleeding leg- chased him into the parking lot. The professor tackled him to the ground and stabbed him in the heart with a pocket knife the way they were taught in Vietnam!!! Yeah, this professor was pretty awesome!

BAHA! Alix2012, my university’s civic center was actually built on an Indian burial ground! The tribe actually tried to push the city to demolish the civic center, but it never happened.

It’s rather funny because everything electronic goes haywire in there. One of the halls is designed for plays, but doubles as a lecture hall. They can never get the computers to work and the lights shut off!

Well, my school is commonly known as UC Pepper Spray now.

We also had a chem grad student whose chemicals mixed and caused an explosion in his apartment this past year. This was across the street from my dorm.

I’m sure there’s other things I’m not thinking of, but those come immediately to mind.

^He was actually a post doc making bombs in his apartment… He also had two firearms. I’m actually living at the apartments where this happened next year.

There was a double homicide off campus pretty close to where I live a couple months ago. Some high school kid randomly broke into an elderly couple’s apartment and waited there for them to come home.

In 1985, two professors were bludgeoned to death with a hammer in on campus bathrooms.

Other than that, a few suicides over the years.

Well the only thing newsworthy was that a girl got raped in her dorm by a local. But I get alerts almost daily notifying me about shootings, robberies, and stabbings around my campus.

Yeah, you’re right now that I think about it. I completely forgot about the firearms though.

A construction worker shot and killed another construction worker at the addition their building to one of their off-campus university-maintained housings? It’s in the middle of nowhere and there’s hyper-security. Not much can happen.
