Bad TIme

My enrollment time is on Aug 31st at 1:20 PM and I'm really worried. It's so late and I'm very worried that I won't be able to get the classes that I want. So I want to start formulating a schedule for myself so I can sign up for classes ASAP before space fills up but IDK how to start. What should I do? Is there a page where I can look at classes and what times they are offered? Thanks

I have mine the same day an hour later… :(

use this. I am using it, really helpful

Mine is on Aug 30 2:20PM I believe.
seriously you guys, the classes I want, like Calc10B is full, Chem6B is full, Biold is full already!! sucks.
so I guess I have to consider taking other classes then.
Physics is full except the class with a staff teaching or so.

the classes that are full right will have many many seats available when you enroll for your courses [these seats are specially reserved for incoming freshman]

oh thanks, I don’t even know that…

^ I don’t think you don’t need to worry about getting into your classes. Chem 6B, Calculus 10 and LD Bio are all classes that freshmen take and UCSD is aware of this. Around the time freshmen begin enrolling, they will add seats to current sections, open up entirely new sections and even add new lectures/professors. you should be able to get all those classes you mentioned; if anything the only one I’d worry about is Chem because you’re skipping 6A and taking 6B “out of season,” but that’s just a possibility. I still think you should be fine

wow thanks @92faim

Do you think it’s possible to do 17 units this quarter? because I am planning to take 4 classes + 1seminar.

@chainiwatmj: Based off the classes you want to take, 17 units is definitely doable.

Does anyone know how accurate the class “limits” are? because im surprised at how little seats some lower div. classes have! (especially in the fall with math 3c, 10 a,b,c) Only up to 24 ppl max!.

don’t get me wrong! i prefer smaller classes but just how accurate are these numbers if not by how much could they deviate? I quesiton this because i asked around and people said class sizes are actually a lot bigger (like up to + - 30!)

cheers!

Usually for those classes, they list the limit for the individual sections, not the lecture hall. Multiple sections attend the same lecture, which results in the large class sizes per single professor. Let’s take math10c for example: on tritonlink right now it’s 24 people per section, but 6-8 sections are listed per lecture time (MWF 10-11a or MWF 3-4p) resulting in a class of 150+.

Lectures are usually big - the smallest class size I’ve had so far is 60 (upper div honors class) and the largest, 450. These are taught by the professor, usually. Sections are small - the smallest section size I’ve had was 6 (though I’ve shown up to sections where no one attended :P) and the largest about 40. There are classes (lectures) with 30-40 people, but they usually fill up suuper fast.

On a final note, those 24 person sections will probably be upped to 35-ish once everyone is finished enrolling, so don’t be afraid to waitlist.

AHHH…ok that explains a lot!

However i don’t quite get how to calculate how many students are a lecture at once!

While some classes have the number of students at a single lecture (LE) some classes only have the seat limits per section without specifying how many there are at a lecture, all i can scratch out are the lecture times!

thanks

Thank you guys for all the feedback and help! I really appreciate it!
