Bad to take Pre-Reqs for Comp Sci in Spring, the last semester before you transfer?

Is it frowned upon by the UCs to take pre-reqs in Spring, the last semester before you transfer? I will be taking my last 2-3 pre-reqs and then I'll be completely done with the pre-reqs.

Not just Comp Sci, Engineering majors in general. Especially for high tier UCs. Please help…

Yeah they don’t want engineers to be completing the important prereqs in spring - like at Cal. They preferred you take electives. They said this at a conference I attended at Berkeley. The average GPA to be competitive for engineering is 3.8

not bad per se, but you’ll be at a disadvantage against other applicants that have already completed all major prerequisites by fall 2013.

Somebody said that it is merely impossible for Engineering majors to complete all the pre-reqs in 2 years without taking the last few in Spring. So is that false? Has any Engineering majors been accepted to UC Berkeley or UCLA even with taking pre-reqs in Spring? I am so worried now… I thought it would be fine to take the very last few pre-reqs in Spring… sigh…

Not everyone does it in 2 years. Most of the Engineering and Comp Sci majors I know are in their third year.

Yeah RamonaFalls is right. I haven’t heard of engineer majors transferring in two years unless they have good AP scores to support them (Physics, Calculus, ect.)

who said taking pre-req in spring hurts the chance of getting in?! if in ASSIST it says you are REQUIRED to finish for example calc3 by the end of fall2013, then yes…but all of them say it’s fine if you’ll be done by all of it by the end of spring before you transfer!!!
now if you never had any pre-req so far, and just want to take some in spring, that’s not good!

Im taking 2nd semester of physics right now, and computer organization in spring which is my last prereq. As far as i know i never thought of this as being at a disadvantage since it is finishing all my prereqs before i transfer instead of taking that prereq at that uc school… wierd?

bump, for clarification
