Bad to use common app while applying ED

Hey guys I'm applying ED to Penn and I was wondering if it is a bad idea for me to use the common app and the penn supplement rather than the penn form. I've written a general essay that can be used for the common app, but im not sure it can be used for the penn app. (its an essay about hiking, ect)

What do you guys think?

I have this question. It seems such a trivial thing- but I'm a college freak!
Does using the college actual application, in general, show that you care more and are more invested in that college or am I just making something quite minuscule into something bigger? I mean, they only have like 2 minutes to look at your application. But would something like that make you stand out( just for the blink of an eye!) or is more of a hassle for the colleges and they would just prefer the common app?

It makes no difference whatsoever.

I was told that the data is extracted and put into a different format either way, so they won't even know the difference.

^^Waaahht??

That's so weird...so what do they look at....I've never heard of this! And I'm a self proclaimed college freak. lol.

I think Penn's getting rid of their own form this year, and switching to Common App only...thought I'd read that somewhere

In our college visits every school said it makes no difference, except at one which said they'd prefer you use the common app. Quite a few selective privates are phasing out their own apps anyway.
