<p>I'd suggest Baron's SATII Writing prep book -- it has a VERY comprehensive grammar section which will give you hard-and-fast rules to learn from. For the writing sample, I don't know how to improve besides practice, practice, practice! </p>

<p>let me tell you, i improved from a 62 MC subscore to 79 on the actual test just by looking over Barron's for a few days. But their essay section did not help me at all.</p>
<p>I'd reccomend Kaplan. It has great tips on writing the essas (and drills) in addition to MC help. It also has many example essays with their grader's comments. Just keep in mind its harder than the real thing. I was scoring 600s on those tests and ended up with a 790 on the real thing. Sparknotes practice tests are pretty accurate, so I'd suggest taking the free one on their website the night before to releive some stress.</p>
<p>I would also recommend Kaplan. I actually took the Kaplan Test Prep SAT/PSAT class, but it was a ridiculous waste of money. The materials, however, were very good. I bought the SAT Writing book and they cover basically all of the different topics covered on Writing. (Includes idioms, to/for, who/whom, toward/towards, stuff like that. Idioms proved to be somewhat difficult for me) It's very similar to the PSAT Writing section (last year's, at least. I've heard it has changed). </p>
<p>As for the essay, just keep it simple. Don't complicate things or try to impress the readers: simple is key.</p>
<p>Also, the SAT2 Writing is very different from Verbal, so don't worry. Just go in with a clear head, confidence, and remember the strategies. Good luck!</p>
