Baffled at Rejection from Cornell

umm I understand that everyone here is trying to help but some people here are a little rude... it's kinda brutal to speak of some1 like this... I do understand that he asked for an opinion and I wholly believe that a true, clear, and concise answer should be given however some of you don't know the facts

I know non recruited athletes non heop non eop non cosep students admitted to cornell with 1600 on their sats (all 3 sections, not the writing section omitted)

In fact my friend was admitted with a 89 weighted average and a 1600 on her sat to cornell

another (dont mean to be racial, as she is one of my best friends), caucasian yes 100 average but 1800 on her sat no clubs besides student government

therefore its not only based on numbers which has been reiterated 11054234536 times on CC. if they like u u'll get it... it's pretty random

my scores are higher than some students admitted however I just look at it that I wasn't the BEST fit... every disappointment is for a good... better luck for me next year

and check this out:

http://dpb.cornell.edu/documents/1000003.pdf

arts and sciences is the toughest to get into

Therefore csbjs, good luck to you and you ARE qualified for admission, better luck as a transfer and I don't know the answer to ur question about the transfer credits... and unlike some I dont give answers I don't know :-)

once again best of luck... the admissions committee will make the decision not anyone of this board

but anyways yeah

Why would you be baffled? Did you consider Cornell as your safety? If so, then I'm offended.

as far as the SAT's go. They're not that big of a deal!!! I got in with a 1710 out of 2400!!!!

And I know someone (non URM) who is a junior at Harvard now with an 1190 SAT. It's not all about test scores.

Does he have connections or a very rich daddy?

No. Neither. There is a wider range at all the Ivies than you might expect. There are, by definition, 25% both below and above the SAT's as they are now typically expressed.

Keep in mind that's on a 1600 pt system.

that still falls somewhere in the upper 1700s...generally unheard of at harvard.

thanks for helping me out, obinnadaone.
...and sorry for "offending" anybody-- i never said cornell was my safety school...if it were my safety school i would be outraged not baffled...
considering i believed i had all the pieces put together for an acceptance, i was surprised when i found out that i didnt have all the pieces.... relax

You guys are a bit rude to csbjs.

ppl have their "pieces together" for harvard but doesn't mean they'll get in...my valedictorian and our salutatorian who made a perfect sat score, got rejected from a lot fo schools and I'm sure they had all their pieces together...

I think I just killed this thread

lol I think you may have very well accomplished just that ^^^ hahaha…

I got into Cornell (arts and sciences) RD. 2160 on SAT. SAT II's were mid-high 700's. Three AP's junior year and scored a 5 on each exam.
Bi-lingual, too.

That's funny, cuz I only got a 1960 on my SAT, 670 and 530 on my SAT IIs and I got in.
