Bag suggestions

I'm looking for a bag for college, and it's difficult, so I would like some suggestions. BUT, there are some requirements:

Shoulder bag (I don't do backpacks/messengers)

Fit a 14" laptop, textbook, notebooks and regular books along with pens/pencils and other crap

Neutral in color (designs are fine)

There doesn't need to be a designated place for the laptop although that would be nice. I have a sleeve.

Thanks!

My biology teacher said that there have been studies done that show using google increases your decision making ability.

You should try it.

^ This.

*** is a shoulder bag? A tote with long straps? And you’re trying to fit a laptop AND textbooks in it? Christ, woman, think about your shoulders! College isn’t a cute contest.

How bout’ this one:

Nice and affordable :)

There have been maybe 20 threads started about this same topic within the past couple of days, and even that’s 20 times too many! I don’t get it? Go to the store and find a bag or do a google search and order one. Not to be mean, but it’s really not complicated. At all.

I’ve Googled and shopped around in stores and online (ebags) and I haven’t really found anything.

I don’t do backpacks because they’re incredibly uncomfortable and it’s impossible to get anything without having to take it off your back, unzip it and dig through. Messenger bags are better, but they hang funny.

Because I always rip laptops and textbooks out of my backpack when I’m walking around campus. Not sitting in a classroom or at a desk or something.

I always take stuff out of my bags…Chapstick, cell phone, lotion, gloves, scarves…

This incoming freshmen class seems to be extremely high maintenance.

Yeah…so high maintenance because I like comfy bags with easy access.

Okay, so I’m not very high maintenance…I found a beach bag at Walmart that is like a big tote. The straps are comfy and its made of canvas type material and has some pockets on the inside. It’s big enough to hold everything without being too big. It’s navy blue with pink straps. It was only $10…lol.

I just bought the Dakine Ella bag in pink plaid, but it comes in a lot of other colors (7 or 8 I think). It has a padded laptop section for a 15" laptop, lots of outside pockets, wide straps, and it zips across the top (important when it’s raining out). I bought mine off of Amazon, and luckily the color I liked was from a previous season so it was cheaper than the newer colors.

Maybe this? Check the reviews/ask & answer section.

LittleLostFlute - I was looking at the Dakine Ella. Is it really big enough? I was worried about it not being that big and it’s pretty expensive.

What about a Jansport Ella? That seems like it could work. Anyone know?

I have a computer bag from MacCases. I have the sling. It’s really great because you can either carry it on one shoulder so it’s easy to get stuff out or you can put it around your arm and neck like a messenger. It can fit my laptop, some textbooks and notebooks, my wallet, etc. There’s a special pouch for iPods, too. It’s made specifically for MacBook but it fits my mom’s 14" Sony Vaio just fine.

Like I said, I got an older-season color. Mine was $35 plus shipping, which I think is a good deal considering it has a padded laptop section and quite a few compartments. I haven’t technically used it yet, but I put some books and stuff in it to “reshape” it (all smooshed from shipping). I’ve got 2 textbooks in it (engineering, so on the large size as far as textbooks go) and 2 (3-subject) notebooks, and there’s still room for my laptop. I think another notebook or two can be crammed in too if needed.

I only like the plain ones and those are the newer ones so…But $35 isn’t bad. $50 isn’t either, unless it’s a bag that won’t fit the stuff I need. But if you can fit all that stuff into the Dakine Ella, then I think that’s what I’m gonna get. I probably won’t ever have that much stuff in my bag since my classes are kinda spread out and I can easily go back to my dorm, plus I know I won’t need to bring the textbook to half my classes. I’ll need to fit my laptop, a couple 1 subject notebooks, a couple regular books, a textbook and miscellaneous items like my iPod, gloves in cold weather, and lotion.
