Bags

black jansport.

lifetime guarantee baby

Get a north face backpack. Some have laptop cases in them. they can be expensive anre are between about 40 and 80 but they last forever.

I use a straw Coach tote bag for classes with small books, trips to the cafe, or nights out on the town. For class I use a beige American Eagle University Satchel, which is big enough to hold a laptop. :) I love them both.

crumpler bags are amazingly awesome

I used a messenger bag for all 4 years of college. Generally, textbooks are only for homework unless the prof specifically says, "Bring your book to class", and like someone mentioned earlier, you're typically going to have one class, then an hour, then another class, then an hour.... You don't need to haul around a ton of crap like you used to do in high school. There were semesters when I could get by with just carrying around one Five-Star spiral notebook all day.

Well, I can see myself bringing my books to the library to study. Also, most of my classes are pretty much back to back, so I think a backpack would really help me.

how are messenger bags when you're riding a bike? what's the best bag if you're gonna bike a lot?

vera bradley totes are adorable!

Would a messenger bag be a good choice if you're planning on using a clipboard for notes, and carrying around a pencil case, and maybe a book every so often? I don't know what to get!

Blumuffin, do you have any recommendations on models of Crumpler bags? I'm looking at the Wonder Weenie and the Seedy Three, specifically, on REI's website...but I can't decide which one I need for books and maybe a laptop on occation.

I've used a messenger bag for several years now (LL Bean's Heatwave messenger) but I had a bunch of patches all over it, and when I took them off, there's some crusty stuff left from the iron on paper stuff...plus it has some holes in it. But it's worked great for pretty heavy loads, and it doesn't really hurt me to carry it around because it has a kind of Jansport "air-lift" style strap with the air pocket thingys in it.

There's many courier messenger bags that are good for riding a bike a lot, jude...you might want to look into the bags at www.timbuk2.com They may be pricey, but I hear they hold up a long time.

longchamp totes.
northface backpacks.
all good, all classy.

yeah! i got a longchamp like a month ago and its the cutest thingy ever

I carry around a backpack when I'm going to class, and just need to carry around books and such. I however also own a laptop case that I'll carry around with me if I'm taking my computer somewhere.

About Crumpler, I have a wonder weenie and I love it except for one thing.. the velcro is insanely loud and I HATE the sound of velcro.
So now I'm getting a new messenger bag if I ever get around to ordering it...

Hmm, do all the models have velcro openings, then? Well, that might be a bit of a deterrent, even though they're a pretty good deal at REI right now.

isnt there a seperate notebook bag (with padding) where you can put your notebook in, then put a whole thing in your backpack?

Tote bags have been popular for a while.
I'm planning to get a monogrammed LLBean boat bag
