So I just went on a visit of FSu last weekend (was impressed) and I'm curious about the housing. From what I've seen, Landis seemed like the nicest. However, the reputation for Landis is that it's an anti-social dorm where everyone only studies. Is this true? Is there a dorm with people that study when they need to and still socialize? Any help would be appreciated :)

That’s not really true from what I’ve heard from students who live there. It is one of the least “social” dorms, but it’s near the center of the campus so a lot of activities occur there/near it.

Oh and you might want to look into Wildwood and DeGraff. They’re really nice and don’t require meal plans, but they’re on the western side of campus. A lot of people think that’s really far for some reason even though I didn’t think it was all that far at all while I was there.

pick an extremely social dorm and when you need to study go to the library. lol.

Degraff is sort of off campus, but it’s actually a great location (and it’s not on the west side either). It’s very close to Cawthon Hall, and literally 1-2 minutes away from the union. If you don’t want to get a meal plan, I’d highly recommend it. It’s brand new, nice, good location, and of course, no meal plan requirement.

I lived in Landis my freshman year (06-07, the first year it reopened after renovation) and while it certainly isn’t as social as say Smith, Salley, Kellum, etc, there is still a good mix of people. Of course you’ll have a few of the strictly focused on academics folks, but several friends in the dorms went out several nights a week. Myself, I was somewhere in the middle, but I enjoyed the mix of being able to study/sleep/etc in the dorm when I wanted to, but still having people to go out with when I choose to do so.
