Balancing academics and social life

Hi

My schedule next year looks like this
Schedulizer: Fall '10

16 credits without PE. I'm native Korean speaker btw. I heard that the Marx/Freud class is pretty hard and my professor for Econ is pretty tough (but a good lecturer). I heard some stuff like 2 or 3 hours of studying for every 1 hour credit.

I know that my GPA is important but I dont want to get a 4.0 at the cost of not having friends....i know good time management can lead to a solution possibly but any other tips/guides? THx

Is PE necessary? If not, seems like you might be better off dropping it. That’s a pretty big block of time that could be used doing something else.

^ Agreed unless you’re like me and HAVE to work out to feel good. In which case, so long as that’s a time you’d enjoy working out, I don’t think it’s too bad. Besides, if it’s graded, you get a nice GPA boost.

You can still have a social life, although I’ll admit: when I opened that schedule I kind of gasped a bit. Last semester I had two days where I had 4 classes back to back. Never again!

Most things happen at night like clubs and kids hanging out. You don’t seem to have night class, except for orchestra, so I think you are fine!

Drop the PE. It isn’t worth it. Why do you have chinese so many times on your schedule? Is that how your school blocks it out or…?

I am for taking Cardio Combo. It sounds like a cool class and should be a nice and healthy way to release some stress. But Mandarin, 6 credits? Anyway, I think you should be able to pull it off well.

PE is mandatory so cannot drop it…i mean I don’t want to get the Freshman 15 and it’s just two hours a week.
